Research by the Kauffman Foundation indicates that female-led tech teams yield 35% higher returns than their male counterparts. Despite this analysis has shown that female-founded teams received only £145m in the first half of 2024. This represents less than 2% of the £8bn total UK equity investment, with all-male teams securing £6.92bn. Kauffman also found that just 5% of angel and VC investors in Europe are women. Male investors are half as likely to fund a woman as a female investor would be.
BFS Comment:
Interestingly the Times reports that VC firm First Round Capital analysed its 300 investments over ten years. This showed that the female-founded firms it backed did 63% better than its all-male businesses. Obviously lessons to be learned here!
