Learn about what we offer your business.

Our business was set up in 2002 with the express purpose of assisting small and start-up businesses to grow strong and successful. That remains our primary raison d’etre.

The Directors of Business Finance Services have all worked for small and medium-sized businesses, both as managers and as owners. Therefore we have experience of the problems frequently encountered in sourcing suitable finance. We also have broad knowledge of working with both major high street lenders and specialist lenders. In other words, we have experience from ‘the both sides of the desk’ to share with you. We are keen to offer you the sum of these experiences.

Choosing the right option!

One of the biggest problems facing SME’s in today’s commercial World is the proliferation of types and sources of business finance. Choosing the best options can be a major problem. That’s where we, with our contacts and experience can save a great deal of time, effort and money.

Examples of what we are talking about are:
Invoice Discounting, Factoring, Spot Factoring, Hire Purchase, Leasing, Trade Finance, Merchant Cash Advances, Revenue sharing, Development Finance, Bridging Loans, Crowd Funding, High Net Worth Investors, Secured Loans, Unsecured Loans , Personal Guarantee Backed Loans (and the list goes on),

So, if you don’t know who to apply to, or how to put together a strong application (Pitch) or your submissions have failed so far, then give us a call to learn about us and what we have to offer

Promoting experience of the BFS Team

Do not consider BFS as a regular, ‘run of the Mill’, commercial finance brokerage. Whilst we can, and do, arrange basic finance, our real area of expertise is elsewhere. We can often help you with arranging sources of finance in a situation where normal sources of funding are simply not available to your business.

Learn about us and who we are

We pride ourselves on giving a very personal service as well as a thorough one. We spend time getting to know your business and where you want to take it. Whilst we are working on a project we become a key part of your team.

If you are in need of help or advice then give us a call for an initial free, no-strings consultation. To learn more about us call us on 0800 093 5240 or by e-mail at enquiries@bufinserv.co.uk. Alternatively follow this link to our enquiry form and we will get back to you.

    The Team

    Peter Douglas – Director

Peter started his working life as an apprentice, which included doing a Degree in Business Studies. He then spent 20+ years in Export Sales and Marketing. He worked with a number of major corporations. This involved travelling all over the World.. He eventually decided to give up the globetrotting life, partly to spend more time with his young family. He and his wife, bought a village Post Office in the heart of Gloucestershire which they ran together. Luckily they gave up the PO just as the dreaded ‘Horizon’ system was being introduced, so missed the subsequent (and on-going) horrors! He set up BFS in 2002 having spent time getting an education in commercial finance. He says “One of my greatest pleasures is to work with the owners/managers of startups or established SMEs. I enjoy helping them to grow or to recover their strength”.

    John Landers – Director

John originally trained as an accountant. In 1981 he became involved in commercial finance, more specifically the Invoice Finance industry. This is where he has remained ever since, managing a number of different teams involved in both sales and business development in general. As a result John has very broad experience and knowledge of all forms of commercial finance. He prides himself (as do his colleagues) on ensuring that a client company is matched with the most suitable source of finance for their particular needs.

John’s enjoys swimming and he is a keen golfer.

    Phil Jones – Director

Phil first gained experience of running SMEs as the owner of a number of Travel Agencies in different parts of the UK. He then made the move into the Sporting/Hospitality market. He become Manager of the largest Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre in Europe, which he ran very successfully.

Eventually he became involved in a number of businesses, including:

    • An Irish healthy fast-food chain.
    • A children’s outdoor activity centre.
    • The re-launching of a ferry company.
    • A hotel in Devon.
    • Senior Manager of Silverstone Racing Circuit.
    • Management of a midlands golf course, where he was involved in the transformation from a company-owned club to a members-owned one.

With such a wide range of experiences, including large and small corporations and independently owned businesses, Phil has the right level of experience needed to provide management advice and guidance (Mentoring) to the owners/managers of a wide range of startups and SME businesses in general. Whether you are looking for help in business planning, growth or even turnaround (rescue & recovery) Phil and his colleagues have the answers.
